While the term Notgeld refers to wide array of both banknotes and coinage, this site will primarily focus on the German banknote type of notgeld.
Due to the vast and complex nature of this notaphilic niche, the content found on this site is by no means "complete". For the first iteration of this resource, the primary focus will be around the ever-popular Serienscheine, or "Series Notgeld".
There is an abundance of German language references about these notes, both in print and digital formats, but it can often be difficult to find accurate and in-depth information on this topic written for an English speaking audience. This catalog, and this website more generally, will hopefully serve as a helpful English language resource for these audiences and collectors.
