“Day 18: These are a couple of notes from Bielefeld, issued in 1922. Some of the notes from Bielefeld are very popular to collect due to the unusual materials some of them are printed on. Instead of paper, these two notes are printed on linen (top note) and silk (bottom note).
These notes were printed on two pieces of material and then stitched together. Some of these types of notes from Bielefeld feature elaborate sewn or embroidered borders.
The designs on each note are identical, and both have a denomination of 1,000 Mark, which is one of the highest denominations featured on a "non-inflationary" piece of Notgeld.
The catalog value for these notes is between $20 - $30 each. Here you can find more info about these notes and others from Bielefeld.”
